Student Criteria:
Overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above, or equivalent.
Must be a non-U.S. citizen enrolled as a full-time student in a PhD program overseas.
 
Work Authorization:  A primary focus of the Bell Labs PhD program is on cultural exchange and training. Applicants are required to be non-U.S. citizens studying abroad. The program will sponsor short-term J1 Visa PhD candidate students to participate in the cultural exchange and training.
 
 Must be pursuing a degree Electrical  Engineering,  Systems Engineering and  Telecommunications from an accredited college/university.
 
Particular consideration will be given to students who have an interest and experience in optical fiber communications.
 

Required Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)  

 
M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics, with Telecommunications background
 
Competence Requirements
 
Hands-on experience in optical laboratory environments, fluency in DSP and lab automation programming languages such as Matlab, Labview, or Python
