The Access Technology Implementation and Trial Systems Research Department of Nokia Bell Labs is looking for highly self-motivated and talented interns to work on developing cutting-edge system-level concepts, algorithms and real-time implementations that will unleash the next wave of gains in productivity enabled by 5G and beyond.  Our group has a strong hands-on tradition of creating disruptive solutions starting from theoretical fundamentals to best-in-class implementations that power next generation access technologies. 

The ideal candidate would have interest in topics including but not limited to

1) Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communication (URLLC) for Industrial Automation

2)   Vehicle-to-Vehicle or Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2X) Communication

3)   Signal Processing and Communication Theory

4)   Machine Learning for Wireless Systems and/or Edge-Cloud Applications

5)   Real-Time Implementation and Prototyping


Key job responsibilities:


a.   Identify novel use-cases of wireless technology and propose cost-effective solutions;

b.   Identify opportunities to greatly improve the current practice in wireless systems;

c.    Provide efficient real-time implementation of complex algorithms;

d.     Analyze the potential gains, apply relevant tools, compare against legacy benchmarks, and provide performance evaluation and recommendations;

e.   Document all the technical details, make internal presentations, and write reports for potential conference/journal publications.



Ph.D. candidates in EE, CS, Maths. Strong problem-solving, analysis, simulation and/or implementation skills, publishing in journal/conference, work well both independently and within a team, strong background on probability, statistics. It is desirable to have strong knowledge and experience in wireless communications, PHY/MAC layers, 4G, 5G, signal processing, machine learning, and/or implementation.
