General Profile:
 
  • As part of the ION Customer Engineering Lead in INDIA organization, the purpose of this role is to actively contribute to the following tasks across the INDIA region.
  • Contribute to Quality Product Testing for new pre-DR4 products and to Common Validation Testing of a brand-new post DR4 products and releases
  • CE Lead to review the Product qualifications and demonstrate the features of new products to ensure customer understands the strengths of the Nokia ION-Optics Portfolio.
  • Provide guidance team to perform Customer Benchmark Testing to ensure Nokia products are accepted as a technical valid solution and qualify for Bids and suport team to prepare Customer Acceptance Testing of newly introduced products as part of the project team.
  • Review the prepared demonstration scenarios and test plans to meet the customer requirements and ensure the product is shown in the best possible way.
  • As lead responsible to review the designs, analyses, plans, and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities. 
  • Support and guide team to develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods.
  • Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. 
  • Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections. Performs the end-to-end design activities (including surveys, design itself, and as-built) required for a physical network deployment.
 

Roles & Responsibilities: -

 
  • Work with ION presales, project management and customer technical project managers to address both resource plans and project requirements
  • Act as the primary interface into the relevant teams ION Service Business Unit (SBU), Remote Engineering Delivery (RD) and the Central New Product Introduction (cNPI).
  • To use and manage the team at optimum levels of productivity and utilisation and to ensure all other ION resource pools have been fundamentally checked before external expenditure is sought
  • Take responsibility for definition and execution of demos, proof of concept, type approvals tests, field trials, and in general any New Product Introduction (NPI) activity with our customer for any new product or solution
  • Be accountable from definition to validation / acceptance by the customer - working with mature elements of our portfolio
  • Take responsibility and accountability for generic test plans for customer lab evaluations
  • Create, reviews and approves Methods of Procedures prior to implementation
  • Be responsible for supporting major initial network deployments across the INDIA region
  • Develop, verify and document upgrade procedures in customer’s networks
  • Maintain lab equipment for customer demos, investigations, validation tests etc.
  • Train Customer Delivery members on new products/features
  • The position requires strong technical skills in one or more of the following areas
  • Provides customer-facing communication regarding operational, technical and quality issues. Makes timely recommendations to customer.
    Provides analysis of product release notes and alerts to the customer.
  • Provides technical guidance for upgrades / retrofits. Supports team in technical aspects of outage management.
  • Maintains information about customer network in relevant databases.
 
Desired Skills:
 
  • In-depth technical expertise in optical transport networks including Packet transport (PTN), Control Plane- GMPLS (ASON, Layer 0, Layer1), DWDM, SDH, MPLS-TP, Ethernet, Layer 2.
 
  • Hands-on experience of running GMPLS tools to design optical transport network to ensure desired network resilience and translate the same in BoQ.
 
  • Highly skilled in customer communication, delivering presentations, to deliver the project and highlight technical challenges and solution to overcome challenges.
 
  • In-depth competitive insight in optical transport domain including technical and preparing MOP, migration strategy and network roll out.
 
  • Designing, commissioning and maintaining of DWDM networks (Nokia portfolio):

  • 1830PSS-36/64/8x/24x
  • 1830PSS-8/16II
  • GMPLS L0 and L1, MRN
  • L2 over DWDM

Essential Skills:
• Minimum 15-20 years of telecommunication industry experience, within the Optical
Transport domain
• Must have minimum of 5-8 years’ experience working within Optical Systems
Engineering, Architecture, Product Management or similar discipline
• In-depth knowledge of the optical transport industry and technologies (DWDM, OTN,
Ethernet)
• In-depth knowledge of next generation photonic architectures, high-speed electrooptics
and control plane technologies
• Solid understanding of the latest market trends, from Access to Core
• Presentation and communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications or related field
• Pre sales or product management experience within the optical transport domain
• Customer facing experience
• Proficient in English reading/writing/speaking
• Proven experience presenting to senior level stakeholders
