 Fiber Solution Architect – Product Manager
Job Summary
Fiber Solution Architect (FSA) is an expert accountable for architecting comprehensive, integrated, E2E Passive Fiber Networks and for Developing and enhancing Fiber OSP technical solutions and processes to create healthy business and to execute projects flawlessly.
In addition to Passive Network knowledge covering in-building (MDU) installations, FSA should also have knowledge about Active FTTx and fiber access equipment, design, build and operations fiber networks.
In addition to product management role, FSA builds/helps to build Solution in presales phase for “selected” opportunities. Accountable for the technical part of the offer contents in-line with the defined E2E technical / commercial / pricing strategy. FSA provide overall technical solution, build HLD and BoQ for the customer and RFQ and BoQ/M for SubCo. FSA may get help from Design Leads and Implementation experts when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
  • Fiber Network Solution Development and Enhancements (not related to any specific project or opportunity)
    • Review and provide input for key aspects of the fiber business case and work effort estimations for technical part of Fiber solutions.
    • Assist in establishing sales and pricing strategy for SIOP, from technical perspective.
    • Validate solutions in terms of financial/technical feasibility and resourcing / procurement requirements.
    • Help/conduct market and competitor analysis with respect to technology and pricing.
    • Establish technical requirements baseline and specify the Fiber Solution Architecture for different needs.
    • Create and validate generic project implementation schedules.
    • Provide support to build/change the service catalog and working processes, including network design rules/guidelines, passive products and services decisions.
    • Product Management for 3rd party passive optical network products and building relation with vendors and partners.
    • Suggests/elaborates innovative ideas in architecture, deployment techniques, materials etc.
       
  • Help to create new business opportunities with “targeted” customers (Not related to any specific opportunity, in case of some FSA appointed for some limited number of “important customer accounts”, as Technical Account Manager):
    • Develop relationships with technical leads of customers, corporate service organizations to explore new business initiatives /opportunities.
    • Establish a technical account strategy with AM for the “selected” Key Accounts and subsequently executes defined strategy
    • Employ consultative approach towards customers to advise and build business opportunities.
       
  • Act as Technical Solution Architect during the presales process of selected “big/complex” opportunities:
    • Establish and maintain relationships with customer’s technical leads, SubCo, partners and other organizations necessary to secure/win opportunities
    • Create high-level comprehensive customer-centric innovative solution design that address the technical, commercial and business needs of customers.
    • Provide comprehensive clarification to Customer’s technical concerns and bid queries
    • Develop and validate network models and deployment scenarios
    • Provide Fiber Network Reference Design (HLD)
    • Develop OSP construction and test specifications and methodology if not defined in Nokia’s solutions catalog
    • Generate accurate BoQ according to solutions catalog, make necessary translation between customer provided BoQ (if available) and solution catalog and SubCo catalog
    • Estimate Project Costing and Pricing, risk process (technical)
    • Validate the final SoW, BoQ and RM for tendering deliverable package
    • Negotiations with customer and contractors together with procurement
    • Challenge/cooperate with procurement in offer Costing  
  • After the successful sales phase (pre-execution/project setup):
    • Support Delivery Operations in setting up the project delivery Organization (OSP Engineering Design, Implementation and Project Teams) that is required to complete the project on time
    • Explain in detail the technical solution to appointed Design Lead and Implementation Manager
  • During the execution of the project:
    • Provide guidance and architectural oversight during the detailed design, build, test and deployment phase if needed.
    • Lead the technical part of the complex projects (in project delivery organization, if appointed)
 
 
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Competences:
  • Solid understanding of operator business and the key enabling role that passive infrastructure and outside plant methods plays on the CAPEX and OPEX considerations
  • Solid understanding of various passive network products, systems and architectures Including Active FTTx network and in-building/vertical solutions
  • Solid understanding of E2E Fiber OSP process: Survey, Design, As-built, RoW, Implementation, Test, Acceptance, H&S, QA
  • Expert level competence on Fiber Network Design and strong Implementation/realization experience (international, multiple projects)
  • Nominal planning competence on FTTx/fixed access active networks
  • Understanding the needs for Mobile backhaul
  • Familiar with project management methodology

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
  • 8+ years industry experience in architecture, design and implementation of large-scale passive fiber networks
  • International working experience at regional level or in a multi-country environment is highly desirable
  • Network design, engineering and/or product specialist background preferred. Experience in network engineering, architecture, planning, GIS tools or operations positions is a bonus
  • Expertise in the design of fiber optic access infrastructures, converged networks and/or transport networks is required to master this position
  • Fluent in English
  • Travel is required to engage with customers, peers, third parties and Nokia Account teams (30%).
Education:
  • Bachelor’s (or higher) Degree in Engineering
