Skills & Experience Requirements:


  • Tertiary qualification in RF, Telecommunications, Electronics.

  • Minimum 7+ years' relevant experience in designing and deploying telecommunication fixed broadband networks.

  • Routing: BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, EIGRP

  • MPLS: RSVP-TE, LDP, LDPoRSVP, BGP labelled unicast

  • MPLS-VPNs: L3 VPNs, PtP PW/VLL, PtM VPLS / EVPN

  • Switching: Port-Channel, STP, MC-LAG

  • AAA: Radius, TACACS+, PUAM

  • Tunnelling including secure: GRE, PPP, IPSec 


  • First hop redundancy: HSRP, VRRP 


  • OSS’s: Ubuntu, Centos, FreeBSD, Cisco IOS, Juniper JunOs 


  • Juniper hardware: MX, PTX, EX, QFX 


  • Cisco hardware: ISR 1 and 2 generations, 7600 Series, Cisco ASR 9000, Catalyst Switches 


  • ALU/Nokia: 7200 series, 7750 BNGs 
configuration, ACS and SDM with L3 fault finding experience. Must be a ‘go to guy’

  • DSLAM and FTN experience

  • Deep SIP and VoIP experience

  • Various: TCP/IP+Flow control, UDP, DNS, ARP, HTTP, SSL, TLS, BGP anycasting, DSS, SS7, SIP

  • Database and scripting experience with such as Go, Javascript, Perl, Bash, HTML, CSS, Angular, gRPC, SQL, Elasticsearch, with expert level Splunk experience to support process automation initiatives.

  • Extensive experience in network counters and KPIs analysis

  • Extensive experience in designing, project planning and optimising FBB networks

  • In depth understanding of various FBB access technologies.

  • FBB fault triage experience.

  • Expert understanding of FBB networks down to protocol level.
