The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society.  Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.Our IP/Optical Networks business group (ION) includes IP, optical and network automation technologies and related services sold to our communication service provider customers as well as adjacent markets including webscale companies and enterprises. Our comprehensive wide area networking (WAN) solutions enable our customers to build and operate automated, secure, and high-performance networks at massive scale – helping to interconnect people and things from any broadband access modality to – and among - edge clouds, central clouds, the Internet, and other services and data centers.

The IP SME is a member of Nokia RBC ION IP Customer Engineering team (North Asia/South Asia), responsible for designing and implementing the Company’s Core/Aggregation/Access Network infrastructure to expand a growing network to service providers/operators and ensure products offered meet the highest industry standards. This includes but is not limited to architecting Telecom domain systems such as IPMPLS, BNG, MBH and NSM, expanding existing service providers’ IP network systems, creating written network implementation/migration plans, and troubleshooting network issues.

What you will learn and contribute to
  • Architect network of IPMPLS (IP Core, Metro, etc), BNG, MBH and NSM domains.
  • Prime IP multiple network domain integration discussion with customers and project team members so as to gather the requirements of the IP network solution and implement the solution to satisfy the requirements.
  • Work closely with TPM/PM/Solution Architect on IP technical activities implementation
  • Create written Domain Architecting Design Packages including detailed implementation project plans and procedures.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for domain implementation team.
  • Integrate IPMPLS technology into new and existing systems, including the procurement, documentation, configuration, and coordination of installations.
  • Author quality assurance testing procedures on new products as well as existing hardware.
  • Identify and recommend hardware and support solutions based on research and analysis of new technologies.
  • Provide technical expertise to sales engineering teams during complex network developments.
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to the company.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Verifies that the detailed design effectively translates customer requirements into workable solution meeting customers’ dynamic requirements and ensuring design integrity.
Your skills and experience

Must have thorough understanding of IP network theory with detailed knowledge of Ethernet transport technologies and IP/MPLS network. Experience architecting, installing and operating IP network systems. Ability to communicate professionally through all types of media with customers, associates, management, contractors, and vendors.

Must have strong work ethics, be well organized, and reliable. Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Knowledge of Nokia SR solution systems is preferred.

  • Minimum NRS II certified or CCNP certified equivalent.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English;
  • Energetic, customer-service oriented with strong inter-personal skills, dependable and flexible.
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn.
  • Self-starter especially on new scope/technology.
  • Can work independently and more importantly, work in a team.
  • Able to work in tight schedules and occasionally, work on off-hours project activities.
  • Possesses analytical and systematic view in identifying and dealing with technical challenges in the course of project work.
  • Good business understanding in vendor or/and operator/service provider environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem solving skills and working experiences on test equipment.
  • Clearly communicate (verbal and written) in English.
  • Self-motivated and self-development/learning.
  • Able to manage activities under high pressure and critical deadlines.
  • Able to handle several important tasks at the same time.
  • Able to look at different factors and prioritize tasks.
  • Able to influence to get the right outcomes.
  • Able to develop and maintain strong relationships in Nokia and with Customers.
