Job Description
 
Solution Engineer with technical experience and business-savvy pre-sales skills. 
 
Expectations and Tasks
  •  
  • Act as technical advisor and product advocate to actively drive and support the sales process from technology evaluation, project initiation, and through customer success
  • Assist sales team to strategize and execute on opportunities, including running technical presentations, meeting with and gathering technical background and requirements from customers and prospects, and refining and executing demonstrations to address customer-specific requirements.
  • Innovate and contribute to developing assets, knowledge and approaches used in sales engagements with account teams and product marketing
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills to diversified audiences, including technical staff to CxO executives
  • Excellent project management skills with experience leading combined teams
  • Travel required approximately 30% to 50%
     
Essential skills and attributes:
  • Experience performing requirements discovery, identifying solution fit, and preparing and presenting/demonstrating customer-specific solutions.
  • Ability to modify/customize messaging and value proposition to specific customer situation and requirements, and deliver in appropriate way to any level of customer audience, from IT technical audience through C-Level
  • Capability and willingness to support all stages of the sales cycle, including RFP response generation, demonstration preparation and delivery, POC project leadership, solution architecture development, and customer presentations
  • Ability to communicate crisply, concisely, and effectively, both verbally and in written mediums.
  • Established technical foundation and ability/willingness to become proficient in core technologies of the Space-Time platform
  • Experience excelling and executing in environment that requires individual to be self-initiating and independent thinker, while able to request and coordinate  assistance from other groups/personnel at Space-Time (e.g. Product Management, Engineering, and Professional Services)

 

 Desirable skills and attributes include at least some of the following:

  • SQL, Eclipse/Java, HTML5, R, Javascript.
  • Ability to compare and contrast different big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Cassandra, Crate.io)
  • Appreciation of data science and machine learning
  • Experience of advanced analytics solutions (e.g. machine learning and optimization)
  • Awareness and understanding of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). This could include sensors, connectivity (e.g. high level appreciation of LoRa, Sigfox, NB-IoT etc…..), analytics, use cases, value proposition.
  • Knowledge of industry verticals - logistics, distribution, utilities
  • Cloud computing, containerisation
Education and Qualification / Skills and Competencies
 
  • Advanced Degree in a technical area (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering or other relevant discipline); or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in a pre-sales Solution Engineering role for a software company, or experience of software project / product delivery combined with an aptitude and desire to develop pre-sales skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
