Title: Cross Domain Architect



The Cross-Domain Architect (xDA) leads the technical definition, development, delivery, and evolution of complex, and often new customer solutions across Nokia, from pre-sales through the delivery and ongoing operation.  Cross-Domain Architects are engaged on projects that introduce both significant technical and business risks, that span multiple products and services units that must be completed in multiple phases over a significant period of time, and/or where the consequences of project failure are high.


Key Responsibilities / Functions 


Technical Leadership & Direction for Pre-contract Solution Development & Pricing:   The xDA directs internal Nokia teams to develop the solution across Business Groups (Services, Products) and 3rd parties.  The xDA, using a mix of strong consultative and technical skills, interacts with key customer contacts and decision makers to consult on customer objectives, gather business and technical requirements, establish credibility for Nokia’s solution, and demonstrate technical leadership to the customer.
Technical Management and Delivery Quality Assurance: 
Provides technical direction to all members of the technical project team. Provide key inputs to implementation Service Solution Descriptions to insure completeness and appropriately limited scope, verification of Nokia and 3rd-party product commitments in support of the architecture, and communication with key stakeholders as to the architecture and implementation plan. 
Technically leads troubleshooting and debugging interoperability issues, oversee testing activity, and engage as required all technical resources (people & tools) available to the program to resolve issues.
Delivery Planning: Provides input to the Project Manager developing the project plan, including phase definition, entrance and exit criteria, major activities, identification of task interdependencies, and technical project risks and mitigation strategies.
Architecture and Design: During delivery, the xDA documents the solution requirements, develops the high-level design and leads overall design activity. The xDA also leads development of technical implementation planning documents such as the overall Migration and Solution Test strategy documents. The xDA will interface with DA- Domains Architects, to align inter-Domain aspects such as requirements – use cases, features, performance and interoperability.
Escalation point for solution-level technical problems that arise during implementation.
Required Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)  

BS, MS or PhD in Electrical, Computer Science, Network Engineering or equivalent experience.   
At least 10 years of professional experience.
Five or more years of demonstrated experience in network consultancy, architecture, design, implementation and management. 
In-depth knowledge of IP fundamentals: Routing, Switching and SDN.
At least actual design and deliver experience in 2 of the following areas: EPC, IP Backhaul and Backbone, Security, in Cloud/Data Center/IT environments.
Strong relationship management skills to build cross-organizational support for appropriate engagement and support of new services/solutions.
Demonstrated track record of successful sales support and/or business development.
Strong leadership and consultative skills including ability to coach and mentor team members. And able to transfer Knowledge.
Must be a quick learner (without formal training), self-motivated with outstanding customer interface, communication and advocacy skills.
Ability to understand customer and internal business drivers for opportunities.
Strong Knowledge in:
 -Linux Administrative fundamentals
- OpenStack
- Security
Strong skills for advanced end to end troubleshooting for IP and 3GPP protocols.
Availability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Ability to work on cross domain teams around the globe.
Fluent in English and Spanish
Effective communication.
Expert Certification in IP (e.g Cisco CCIE or Nokia SRA)
Desired Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)
Innovative mindset, ability to challenge status quo.
Good team management skills and ability to work across organizations and cultures.
Good also to know IMS VoLTE, SDM, 3G/LTE Wireless Architecture, Cloud/Virtualization, Small Cells, Mobile Backhaul, Applications, EPC, IP Network Services and IP Transformation. 
A blend of experience gained from roles within both a technology vendor and service provider is desirable.
Technical Certification are desired: IP, SDN, OpenStack, Linux.
