
Sr Architect for Automation and Common Platform Services

The Nokia Software (NSW) Architecture team charter is to set strategic technical directions, common architectural guidelines, principles and reference architectures for Nokia Software products and solutions The Nokia Software business unit is responsible for implementing leading-edge software platforms and applications which operate and manage 4G and 5G networks. The team consists of lead architects in domains including: Cloud, Automation, Common Services, Enterprise and Machine Learning; reporting to the Nokia Software Chief Architect.
In this role, the candidate will need to drive, manage and track large architecture initiatives, across Nokia Software and in collaboration with other Nokia Business Groups. The Lead Architect will be responsible for the coordination and management of activities related to programs for the particular architecture domain. This includes creating technical white papers, performing technology selection, generating architectural requirements, providing internal and external presentation sessions, executing technology evaluations, etc.
We are looking for a senior architect to work on architecting automation for our Common Services Platform. NSW is building the Common Services Platform to form the basis of its future applications. This platform will provide a set of common services (e.g., orchestration, analytic/assurance, closed-loop automation, etc.) which will allow flexible packaging of application services utilizing the common platform capabilities. Suites of these application “use-cases” will provide our customers with a “single pane of glass” experience. Nokia Software places a premium on building automation into all aspects of design, delivery and operation of its products and applications. by applying AI/ML techniques to troubleshooting, fault diagnostics and adaptation to running in complex network environments.
Job Requirements/Skills:
An ideal candidate will possess at least 15 years of relevant architecture experience. The candidate should have extensive telecom, enterprise or web-scale industry experience in leading teams and developing new and innovative approaches to solving problems and setting technical directions.
This lead architecture position requires extensive knowledge in the design and development of API-driven platforms of reusable managed services. Extensive experience with cloud-native application architectures and platforms – for example a working knowledge of industry Container-as-a-Service (CaaS) environments like AKS on Azure / Azure Stack, Tanzu, OpenShift or Anthos/GKE and their associated PaaS services would be a plus. A broad understanding of telecom customer network architecture and operations would also be helpful including ODA. Experience with stateful cloud native micro services and different types of database is advantage. Experience with Machine learning Platform such as AI Platform, and technology and tools is required.
Most importantly, the lead architect must have outstanding communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills. This includes making presentations, leading technical discussions, and writing technical whitepapers and architecture guidelines for the R&D organizations.
Required Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)
- Bachelor´s degree or equivalent experience required
- At least 15 years of data center, cloud or related software development experience.
