In Mobile Networks our goal is to be a leader in 5G and provide the best value to our customers as they evolve their networks. We continue to develop our 5G portfolio according to the latest 3GPP specifications. With more than 2,100 patent families essential for 5G, we are proud of the number of industry firsts that we have completed on the path to 5G commercialization. Nokia is also the only end-to-end mobile network vendor working with the major operators around the world.
Job Description
System specification engineer blends wholistic system knowledge including deep knowledge and understanding of radio networks/RAN with demonstrated long-term technological intimacy with the customers. The engineer applies this unique blend in envisaging and developing innovative state-of-the-art world-class radio & RAN optimization (SON) algorithms. The engineer has hands-on experience in prototyping/simulating these algorithms and demonstrating their value to the customer. System specification engineer owns multiple SON algorithms and drive enhancements/innovations in that area. System Specifications engineer converts customer requirements/use cases for various features into functional specifications.
Job Responsibilities & Competencies
System specification engineer will be responsible for
• envisaging and developing innovative state-of-the-art world-class radio & RAN optimization (SON) algorithms and hands-on experience in prototyping/simulating these algorithms and demonstrating their value to the customer
• defining requirements for a given SON feature and drive the feature with Development, Test and Documentation teams technically until the realization of the requirements.
• working along with feature team to develop system level features, self-optimization solutions and Multi-vendor integrations.
• enabling the feature teams deliver state-of-the-art solutions.
• using simulation for quick validation of innovation
• interfacing with RAN technical teams, customer teams and product management teams in research and development of world class solutions.
• helping product achieve successful PoC/pilot/trial at customer environment and translating the feedback/customer request into product functionality
• being a pivot for the quality deliveries and timelines.
System specification engineer is expected to have deep 4G/5G RAN knowledge, AI/ML techniques and radio optimization algorithms. Knowledge of network slicing, O-RAN would be an added advantage as we have already started developing SON algorithms in those futuristic domains.
